Description:
This policy brief details the different ways that students in Michigan can access career and technical education (CTE) programs and assesses the extent to which CTE availability influences enrollment and program completion. In addition, the brief examines how CTE availability varies by location, school characteristics, student demographics, CTE program type, and the model used by the districts to fund and deliver CTE. On average, Michigan public high school students have access to approximately 14 CTE programs overall (including those they can access by traveling to another location). Focusing on the programs at home schools, the average student has access to three CTE programs.
