Description:
Using a regression discontinuity design, this study examined the effects of grants aimed at encouraging the use of career pathway curricula in California school districts. The study findings indicate that career and technical education (CTE) expenditures increased for grant recipients in comparison to districts that applied for but did not receive grants. In addition, dropout rates declined by 23 percent in districts that received grants, but this outcome was driven primarily by the effect on the dropout rate for female students.
