Description:
This report describes the Secondary School Course Taxonomy (SSCT), a new system for classifying and analyzing student coursetaking in different subject fields, including career and technical education (CTE). The SSCT uses high school transcripts coded with the School Courses for the Exchange of Data (SCED) system. In addition, the report presents the rationale for the development of the SSCT and how it compares to the subject-field classification system embedded within SCED.
