Description:
This brief from a network research team at MDRC presents dual enrollment impacts for students attending New York City's P-TECH Grades 9–14 high schools compared with students enrolled in other city public schools. The study found significant positive effects on outcomes for P-TECH 9–14 students, who on average dual enrolled at much higher rates and attempted and earned more college credits than comparison group students by the end of four years of high school. These findings are particularly important because the study sample included primarily Black and Hispanic students who were underprepared academically for high school and from lower income neighborhoods.
